Pact Expansion, Early: The early Pact expanded along three different axis', which had a high density of habitable worlds. Unfortunately for most Old Earth nations, Russian, India, and Japan controlled the early warp technologies, limiting their options. It wasn't until commercial versions became available that more nations were able to plant interstellar colonies.
Pact Navy: One of the oldest institutions in the Pact of Humanity, the Pact Navy has been the vanguard of the Pact, guarding its borders and policing its members from within. A venerable institute, it's mottos are "Duty, Honor, Tradition" and every officer of the Pact Navy swears an allegiance to these ideals. There are two distinct military formations within the Pact of Humanity, one is the far larger Pact Navy, which wears gray and gold and Skywatch Command, which wears gray and green uniforms. Skywatch Command has no warships under its command, just orbital bases, asteroid fortresses, and an occasional space station.
There are three different overall naval branches in the Pact Navy, the Central Fleet, the Frontier Fleet, and the Warlord Fleet. There are currently sixteen Warlord Fleets operational within the Pact's borders, all of which are now in combat against Dionii or secessionist forces. The Frontier Fleet guards the borders of the Pact against its alien neighbors and is equipped with very heavy forces as well as a light screen of vessels attached to every main fleet. The Central Fleet is located at strategic nodes across the Pact and able to deploy to any critical border within a few months time, with many heavy units of the fleet centrally located near the Olympus System and Holot space. The High Secretary's Fleet is located in Terra Cluster and is not considered part of the regular chain of command as it answers only to whoever holds that powerful office. The HS Fleet is comprised of twelve newly constructed supermonitor warships of an advanced design, and are named:
Atlanton Ascending Jesu Christos
Mount Royal Crown of Heaven
Glorious Retribution People's Assurance
Drake Belgrano Judgement Day
Admiral Hernando de Soto Balance of Power
Royal Dragon Blind Justice
Pact Space: A vast region of space, the Pact of Humanity covers nearly 12,000 stellar systems, but only inhabits around 4,000 of those systems. Overall population within the Pact is estimated at 10-12 trillion inhabitants, with Trantor alone comprising one trillion, or 10%, of that total. Relations with adjacent alien powers starts at poor and goes downhill from there, with actual fighting between the Dionii Hive and Pact of Humanity taking place on a routine basis. Although this is the year is 10,967, the Pact has been around for nearly 6,000 years. It takes nearly two years to cross the Pact, from one end to another, using warp point technology. From Terra to the Frontier takes nearly a year.
Picotechnology: Technology using objects on the picoscale(quantum level). This involves nucleons and other elementary particles doing useful work, involving quantum effects. Unlike nanotechonology, picotechnology has been only in limited use within the Pact of Humanity for a half dozen years.
Pikean Civil War: Once a famous vacation world, the Pike System experienced a self-inflicted nuclear conflagration nearly forty years ago, killing nearly sixty billion people, including the last High Secretary, Ulric MacBannock. This event not only shocked the entire Pact at the ferocity of the fighting, incredible death count, and the loss of one of the Pact's most loved leaders, but it also catapulted Devin MacDonald to the Golden Dome on Terra. Also killed was Garret Rhoe, then the head of the Kona Tatsu. This event destabilized the Pact for several months until the voting for the new High Secretary was concluded. The KT is still looking for the people who overrode the planetary defense net and started the nuclear firestorm which devastated all three planets.
Pilgrims: Genetically engineered inhabitants of the Pilgrim System, these people have been spread across the Pact since the destruction of their star system by a rogue black hole nearly 400 years ago. Dominant chromosomes enable the huge and massively strong Pilgrims to breed true to their genome, even though they are widely scattered and oppressed. Pilgrims are routinely seen in the Pact Marines, where their incredible size and strength are assets in combat. Pilgrims can be recognized by the small red crosses imbedded in their foreheads.
Purge Zone: The region located between the Holot Empire and Pact of Humanity that is a declared "dead zone". This area is a death zone, populated by uninhabited worlds and stellar systems that are routinely bombarded by automated weapons on both sides of the border. The Pact of Humanity uses the Purge Zone to test some of its newest weaponry, as well as automated military hardware like Long Range Missile Units and Recon Drones.
