Kangas: A highly xenophobic and militant species, the Kanga Sphere was located in modern day Maui Cluster and were assimilated by the Pact after a very costly and lengthy war. Trantor became a beachhead for Pact naval forces in their quest to overcome the multi-world Kanga empire, but fighting wound down and the Pact finally settled on occupying Kanga worlds and exacting tribute instead of the pre-planned annihilation of the species(minus their homeworld, a typical Pact tactic at the time). As the second half of the Double War ground on, the Pact Navy began using several advanced technologies during this time, including capital missiles and SLRMs. A combination of military discipline, superior technology, and political vision assurred that the Pact would prevail.
Kardaschev Type Civilizations: A classification of alien civilizations in relation to their energy usage. Type I civilizations control all available energy on a single planet. Type II civilizations control all available energy in a solar system. Type III civilizations controls all available energy of an entire galaxy. A Type IV civilizations, theoretically, could control all available energy in the entire universe.
Kona Tatsu: The Kona Tatsu, the secret police, the strong arm of the High Secretary, the most feared organ of the Pact’s government, is estimated at some 8 million operatives and was founded some 4,000 years ago under Evan MacLane’s rule. Taking a fundamental look at the KT, one would have to go clear back to the 20th century Soviet Union’s KGB for a comparison of it’s utter ruthlessness and manipulative ability. With absolute power over police and military forces, planetary judges and Governors, even Admirals and Senators, a KT operative has the authority to do anything to maintain the High Secretary’s authority, up to the ability of destroying a city.
Korel Empire Collapse: The Pact’s only non-human allies, the human-like Korel’s collapse started the first conflict with the Dionii, who had been invading and ravaging Korel space for nearly a hundred years before the Pact made contact with the Empire. A devastating conflict that annihilated most Korel worlds, the Pact Navy cut its teeth in this war, establishing a continual dominance over the much larger Dionii hordes.
Krulak Family: A minor family from Oldhams Cluster, the Krulak's have consistently fielded excellent soldiers and naval officers from within their long lineage, especially Marine officers. Two of the most important Krulak family members are alive today, with Brigadier Brian Krulak commanding the II Corps of marines, who currently are battling insurgencies in Recife and Samont Clusters, and providing security to the megaplanet Trantor. His younger brother, Admiral Dmitri Krulak commanding the Fourth Frontier Armada enforcing border control between the Pact and the Holot Empire.
