BATTLESATS

Battlesats: These "design-your-own" satellites are built by using "points". Shields and armor only give a minus to hit, and do not "take damage" in the normal fashion. One hit on a satellite always destroys the object. All missile battlesats may fire on planets, but sats generally cannot fire on small craft since they are too fast and nimble (Ak1 mounting sats are the exeption). Battlesats are usually controlled by planetary PDCs or ships (ten sats per CIC) but CIC can be permanently mounted on bases or SS or AF as well. They can also be controlled by Z+ sats and placed near warp points or other strategic targets that need protecting. Finally, all battlesats regardless of cost require 1 MCr per month each to maintain. Additionally, no battlesat may be fired upon until it is within 10 tH. Any smallcraft can target battlesats more efficiently and only ½ the minuses a battlesat has is allowed (ie, a Ac2 S2 battlesat is only -4 to be hit by a fighter rather than a -8 vs a warship).

F: Fires at half range but full damage

G: Fires as K, half range and full damage.

H: Fires continually, as Akm.

I: Defends all nearby Sats within three tac hexes, -1 to be hit.

J: Holds up to 8 CDs; for communication. Can be activated by another CD.

K: Holds up to 3 RDs

L: Links up to six Sats together. 

M: One needle beam, can be linked via Z system.
