RACIAL DESCRIPTIONS

The most important things about the Nrog Federation are its members, faithful members who have been associated with the Fed for its two thousand year history. While some of the most important Fed members, the Nrog, Mandru, and Breen, are widely know, many members and associate members are not formally known, thus this description is provided by the Library of Nrog'issogg for your enjoyment and education.

Amalfi Conglomerate: A self-sufficient and highly adaptable octopus-looking race, the Amalfi are well know for their calm and patience with other races across the Nrog Federation. Also known is their inability to make good crews, the necessity of needing water-filled ships most probably being the cause. A minor power with no border disputes, their military is fading away in the face of funding cuts. Rumors of their joining the newly formed Junkion Union have not been substantiated. Associate Member of the Federation.

Arkarian New People's Republic: These humanoids were once fantastic agrarians who have taken their skill to new heights in the expanse of interstellar trade. Arkarians are not especially hostile, but they are highly chauvinistic. Standing on average around 5'8" tall, Arkarians have a corporate style government, and have few disputes with anyone. Rumored to have joined the Tri-Species Combine, that powerful interstellar entity which has recently seceded from the Nrog Federation, they appear to be headed for a fall out with the Federation over the matter.

Arkonide Greater Imperium: One of the most highly aggressive and militant members of the Federation, the Arkonides are a humanoid race with blue skin, who stand at average height. Their militarily socialist government pursue highly aggressive goals, and their unstable borders have fueled numerous disputes with their neighbors. Their former Emperor(Atlan) has been recently been taken out of stasis, clearly an affront to their Nrog overseers and their union with the evil Trierions and the technologically advanced Breen has made a power block not seen since the early Federation. This "Free Alliance" is something to keep a wary eye upon!

Azuli Union: Yes, these are the sentients that created nova bombs all those years ago, decimating the Llyra System, and killed billions,  but their racial hatred has neither lessened with the passage of time nor the presence of heavy Nrog ground forces. A technologically  backward species, the white skinned humanoid Azuli are nonetheless some of the best fortifiers in the Federation. If and when the opportunity lends itself, the Azuli will surely assert their independence once again. Associate member of the Federation.

Basmoli Commonwealth: The skilled warriors from the Daibei Sector, the Basmoli are bipedal lion-like sentients, whose ship crews are the best in the galaxy. Having a clan-like government, the Basmoli have been able to spread rapidly across the stars and their military is completely merit-based, creating one of the best military forces within the Federation. Although fantastically friendly towards other races, any conflict with Basmoli is always responded to by total and complete violence. Their defensive minds are fairly weak however, making them poor strategists in the long run. Few allies, few enemies, no position on succession has been noted.

Baufrin Diaspora: The spider-like Baufrin are widely known as the galaxy's best tinkerers, a skill that is magnified by their twelve arms and legs. Standing only 4 feet high, Baufrin are fairly non-militant and peruse things in life with a unity that has to be seen to be believed. Their inability to sense warp points has made them less than wanted on Federation survey ships however, but the Baufrin don’t mind. Their recent alliance with the aggressive Kess'Rith and the chauvinistic Arkarians has stunned Nrog analysts with their formation of the Tri-Species Combine, which is only four jumps away from the Nrog Capital. Former Associate Member of the Federation.

Bese Alliance: A large rock-like humanoid race standing nearly twelve feet tall(!), the Bese are from a high gravity environment and make them extremely valuable as ground forces for the Federation. Their low growth rate has caused serious debate within the Bese political hierarchy as the Nrog continually use them in assaults, making them unable to replenish their population sufficiently. No serious disputes with neighbors, minor internal squabble with anti-socialist elements who recent use of nukes has shocked the Bese central government. No official stance of succession. Associate Member of the Federation.

Bolbod Equality Empire: One of the more dense races within the Nrog Federation, the Bolbods are notoriously greedy but highly adaptable. A humanoid race from a high-G world, these purple aliens have a complex bureaucratic government and are easy to get along with, being neither militaristic or chauvinistic. Their location away from other races hinders their diplomatic situation, but giving them ample warning of approaching conflicts. No official stance on succession, Associate Member of the Federation.

Boxnard Empire: An absolute monarchy, the Boxnards have elected a Empress to lead them, and they have formally withdrawn from the Nrog Federation as well. Standing nine feet tall, all Boxnards are bulky gray humanoids looking similar to a Terran bear but with huge fangs(quite terrifying looking)! Although they are from a super-terrestrial world, they are a average race with nominal skills, but Boxnards are noted for their high adaptability and incredibly inept engineering. Their fantastically large home system can sustain unlimited growth for decades to come. Succession announced, allies pending, location secret! Former Associate Member of the Federation.

Breen Federation: One of the Federations most technologically advanced races, the Breen have wielded their tech well, forging an power block that hardly anyone would withstand, according to military analysts. Breen are reptilian humanoids standing nearly six feet high and have rumored ties with other races outside of Federation space. The are not especially aggressive or chauvinistic, but are highly determined. The Breen have a well-known weakness, they cannot tolerate high levels of radiation, but this has not stopped them from allying with other ST races. They have wielded their allies into the so-called "Free Alliance", a major threat to the integrity of the Nrog Federation.

Bushi Federation: An ancient military power with some modern prowess, the Bushi are a fairly short(5" tall) race of slant-eyed humanoids who happen to be the galaxy's best fighter pilots. Their incredible determination and militaristic society encourages both ramming tactics and multiple transiting in combat situations. A money-oriented Federation, their parliamentary Dizet is a plutocratic organization, with the richest members of society running the government. No formal position on succession, no formal allies or enemies, Associate Member of the Federation.

Cenobite Confederacy: A highly militaristic society of four-armed red skinned humanoids, each Cenobite survives a gladiatorial fight to the death at age ten, with fewer than one in ten surviving this mortal combat. As a result of this, they are regarded as some of the best ground fighters in the known galaxy, with each warrior having fantastic military skills. Their low growth abilities have hindered their expansion in the past, allowing the Nrog to conquer then 700 years ago with ease. With a highly anarchistic government, these aliens are highly militant and are just looking for a fight. Rumors of alliances and possible succession have not been supported by any official Cenobite official.

Chinko Republic: The historical teachers of the Federation, the Chinko are widely famed for their teaching abilities and trading skills, as well as their frail constitutions. Chinko are salamander humanoids with blue skin and green eyes who stand nearly 6 feet tall. With few friends or allies, they appear to be extremely vulnerable to Trierion conquest, who are a nearby alien state. Formally on record as not supporting succession of any species or group. Associate Member of the Federation.

Garthog Xenium: One of the most brutal and vicious races within the Federation, the Garthogs were not wiped out by the other races of the Fed due to their fighting abilities being used on the deadly Dionii Hive. The wolf-like Garthogs are highly xenophobic, to the point of genocidal tendencies. The "Xenium" is a theocratic government that has declared a holy war against all "infidels" and begun their expansion into the stars. All races are their enemies, no standing allies, no formal succession declared but all communications in their area have been blacked out for weeks now. Former Associate Member of the Federation.

Hermat Alliance: A race of profound thinkers, the Hermat are an average race that are highly scientifically adroit. Being tall humanoids(7') and having ruddy brown skin and black hair, Hermats wear their hair long to signify life, with warriors in the Fed military cutting their hair shortly. A very large number of Hermats live on Trantor, nearly 230 billion all told, which is a huge majority living outside Alliance space. Semi-officially allied with the Grand Alliance of Enlightened Sentients, the Hermat are poor crewman and remain devoted to the scientific fields. No borders disputes, declining military, former Associate Member of the Federation.

Hert Empire: A race of determined humans, the Hert can be easily distinguished from other races due to their lack of irises in their deep blue eyes. The Hert are also a highly empathic race, a rarity in the Nrog Federation. They also do not like space travel and enjoy democratic government. Allied with the Grand Alliance, they have not formally ended their relationship with the Nrog, although they plan to do so in the very immediate future. The Hert have been part of the Federation for nearly a thousand years and work well with other races.

Im'kek Federation: A race of tall, snow-white hairy humanoids, Im'kek make excellent crewman although their seven-foot height can be a drawback on smaller vessels. Im'kek are slightly telepathic and so get along well with other races. They are also especially poor mathematicians and thus are not highly wanted on Surveying ships of the Federation Navy. Located near the Outer Reaches of the Fed, the Im'kek have recently aligned themselves with the Grand Alliance, which is headed up by the ancient Mandru race. Former Associate Member of the Federation.

Jast Heirate: A reptilian race standing only four feet high, the Jast were discovered only 300 years ago as they reside in a Pocket Universe "below" our very own. Although not being industrially advanced, Jast are excellent at surveying and are highly sought after by Federation Navy survey teams. Ferocious opponents in combat, Jast are not very militaristic or chauvinistic, but their lack of exits into the galaxy has made them strongly agitated and frustrated in the extreme. Border disputes with the Breen and Trierions have not been addressed and anger continues to foster over transit rights out of the Junctions. Associate Members of the Federation.

Junkion Union: A vast amalgamation of races, the Junkion Union is also the home sector of the Junkions themselves, a race of huge robotic sentients seeking equality and enhanced life for all races. Their home world is also a megaworld, and populated by nearly one trillion sentient beings, a huge number of robotic sentients! Junkions themselves are not very chauvinistic but do use force when necessary. They are also fantastically determined, are excellent tacticians, but poor fighter pilots. Junkions can "transform" into various different shapes at will, making them formidable ground fighters. Controlling a huge swath of former Federation territory, an area known for its richness and clusters of Gaea worlds, the Junkions have sat back and allowed races to join their benevolent Union with pleasure. Former Full Member of the Federation.

Kess'Rith Polity: A four-legged, four-armed race with an ancient military tradition, Kess'Rith stand nearly seven feet tall and are a highly determined species. A dominant power on their home world, the Kess'Rith forcibly expanded their sphere until coming in contact with the Nrog early on in their development. Continual wars with the Nrog led to their eventual decimation and incorporation into the Federation. Now, after succession and joining with the Baufrin and Arkarians to form the Tri-Species Combine, they are clearly in a position to expand their territory at other races' expense. Kess'Rith make fantastic ground troops but very poor pilots. Former Full Member of the Federation.

K'Kree Wastage: A herd-race(the only one in the Federation), the K'kree are centaurian in appearance and determined in nature, with an anti-Trierion to boot. Once the center of every Trierion meal, the K'kree have expanded under the benevolence of Nrog tutelage and have attained a high level of technological expertise. While being natural traders has helped them tremendously to get along with other races, they are very poor engineers. The K'kree have little interest in political events outside their sphere and have seceded from the Nrog Federation. Former Associate Member of the Federation.

Luren Federation: One of the most ghastly races within the Federation, the Luren are a 6' tall vampire race that can feed on the energy force of nearly any race. Once the bane of the star lanes, the Luren have been held on their home world in perpetuity until they can show that they can behave themselves. The Luren have such an alien mind that no one can understand them, and their high growth rate has forced their Nrog overseers to herd them of planet, to destinations unknown. A highly militaristic and chauvinistic species, the Luren have been rather unwillingly given a seat on the Federation Council just last year, to the shock and surprise of many. Associate Member of the Federation.

Mandru Collective: This AI race is an old race, already old when contacted and absorbed into the Federation. No other members of the Federation know their origin, or much at all of their history, but count them as great allies, logical and loyal to the nth degree. With a history over 20,000 years, the Mandru have no specific race shape, and are not totally driven by logic. Machines that were left to tend their masters(the Builders) worlds until they came back, the Mandru have done so with complete sincerity, obedience, and complete success. They have formed an anti-alliance called the "Grand Alliance of Enlightened Sentients" and have formed it with some dark purpose in mind. Former Full Member of the Federation.

M'Gewn Socialist Sphere: A race of silver-skinned humanoids who can move incredibly fast, the M'Gewn have a substantial population on the planet Trantor, nearly 200 billion sentients in number. The M'Gewn themselves are not highly militaristic but have strongly supported the Federation in the past, although recently this support has flagged. The M'Gewn are very skillful industrialists but have very poor leadership in the political area, thus they have always been a client state to one race or another. They are strongly socialistic in their outlook, funding and supporting socialist causes everywhere within the Federation, to the ire of many races. Former Full Member of the Federation.

Mqdrekkor Union: A tall scaly, reptilian race standing nearly seven feet tall and weighing in at over 300 pounds, the Mqdrekkor have a fearsome reputation as blood-sucking beasts, which is really unearned as they can only drink the blood of iron-based races, and never without consent. Being unfocused in their research, they have never accomplished much in the material field, but they are wondrous artisans and musicians and are able to replicate every racial tongue in the Federation. They are however brilliant scientists, achieving breakthrough after breakthrough in famously stubborn fields of technology. No statement of succession has been issued, no serious border disputes with neighbors, Associate Member of the Federation.

The Navigators: A brilliant AI race of exceptional shipbuilders, the Navigators were the first race to explore this part of the galaxy, unfortunately sowing the seeds of destruction by allowing the Trierions to capture space going technologies. Since that time, the Navigators have sold technology to nearly every race in an attempt to rescue themselves form the desolation they unleashed. Currently a member of the Junkion Union, the Navigators continue their pure research in the area of ship production and development. Former Associate Member of the Federation.

Nigelian Confederacy: A real phenomenon within the Federation, this system is the home of three sentient races, the Nigelians, a race of marsupial apes with advanced technological skills, the Gendo, a small dragon-like race with natural tinkering abilities, and the Ostrac, a low-tech saurian humanoid race who are this galaxy's most adaptable species. A virtual island of calm in a sea of instability, the Nigelians have used their diplomatic skills to forge all three races into a high-tech union, capable of fending off any attack. They have successfully seceded from the Nrog Federation and currently have no border disputes with anyone. Unsubstantiated rumors of higher economic skills hasn't been found by investigative teams. Former Full Member of the Federation.

N'Rog Federation: The founding race of the Federation.  The N’rog are a peaceful species that evolved on the world of N’rogemoh (Nah-rah-geh-mo).  At one standard gravity, the N’rog home world is over twice that of most Federation members, who have .4-. 6 Standard gravities. N’rog are bipedal with 4 digits on each limb with an opposable thumb on the hands. The average N’rog stands 1.5 meters and weighs 200 Kgs.  A hardy race, the N’rog bone and muscle structure is very well suited to their 1 Standard gravity world. Desperate to hold their vast Federation together, the Nrog hardliners appear to be willing to do anything to accomplish this goal.

Poncan Empire: Little is known about this race, although their empire lies near Trierion space. No formal alliances or succession from the federation have been noted.

Quintesson Tyranny: A race of machine-like beings, the Quintessons look like massive metallic skulls with many metal tentacles deployed from their bodies. A fanatically aggressive species, the Quintessons use force in nearly every situation and they despise organic beings. Trapped in a cul-de-sac system, the Quintessons have become rabid in their insistence of the removal of the Trierions from the Federation. Once a slave race of the brutal Trierions, they will stop at nothing at their expulsion. A Full member of the Federation, the Quintessons have declared war upon the Trierion Empire and their powerful allies, the "Free Alliance".

Raiders of the Verge: A small(40 kg) race that has six limbs, Raiders are similar to "cats" in appearance and are a male-dominated society. Based on the clan system, their government is stable but their small size is their weakness, one they try to overcome with superior ship and crews. The nearly incessant clan warfare that has been the hallmark of their civilization has continued to this day, even as they have risen to the level of galactic sapience. Experts at team tactics, their ships are designed along those lines as well, and they apparently have no formal allies. Communications with the Raiders home world has been sketchy at best, and no succession declaration has been issued by the Verge government.

Seti: A pre-industrial race located in the Typree District, the Seti are eel-looking aliens who are extremely large in size(20 feet long). Living in the vast seas of their planet, little is known about them due to the Non-Interference Directive of the Nrog Federation. They appear to have no formal government structures at all.

Ssli: A large snake-like sapient race in Golorndon Kor Cluster, the Ssli area pre-industrial race, one of three in the Federation. Like the Seti, little is known about them but Federation avoidance buoys have been emplaced around the planet.

Thranx Unity League: An advanced preying mantis-like race located near Zen Kethi Space, the Thranx have a highly developed sense of movement called fazzing and they stand nearly six feet tall. Being determined researchers, the Thranx have always led the Federation in technological designs, as well as radical ship borne weapons development. Unfortunately, their are somewhat weak warriors because their exoskeleton is fairly easy to break. Colored a dark green and having compound eyes, Thranx are easily distinguishable from the many other sentient races inhabiting the Federation. A Full Member of the Fed, the Thranx have not communicated recently, and their is some doubt that they are still part of the Federation at all.

Tolat Reparative: A fantastic engineering crab-like race that stands nearly three feet tall and four feet across, the Tolats have several manipulative appendages. Tolats are exceptional shipbuilders and can breathe oxygen, methane, or hydrogen as well as being able to hold their breath for long periods of time. Their group mindset makes them very poor leaders and the entire Reparative is ruled by a large oligarchy, however their recent ascension into the Junkion Union has altered their government. A former Full Member of the Federation, the Tolats now stand with the Junkions in opposing Nrog dictats.

Tolnep Empire: A former slave race who were eaten by the millions by the rapacious Trierion race, the Tolneps are fanatically anti-alien and highly militaristic society. Appearing as a fanged snake-humanoid, Tolneps are greatly disliked by other races because of their xenophobic attitudes, as well as their notorious venom spitting. A socialist society, the Tolneps have recently declared war upon their former masters, the Trierions, and have seceded from the Nrog Federation as well. Once an Associate Member of the Federation, they have serious border disputes with all their neighbors.

Trantor Alliance: A huge megaworld located in Trantor Sector, this planet is home to one trillion sentient beings, with a GPV larger than most empires within the Federation! Trantor is one of the most important worlds within the Federation and has the following population:

Hermat 29%

M'Gewn           22%

Im'kek              15%

Thranx              15%

Kess'Rith          11%

Nrog                10%

Bese                 9%

Although technically not the home world of any single race, Trantor has in some cases more aliens than on their individual home worlds. Incased in metal, Trantor needs the production of sixteen agro worlds located throughout the Federation to sustain itself and a blockade gives the newly forming Trantoran Navy nightmares. Most communications have failed recently to receive a response from Trantor or even its outlying colonies, making federal officials on the Nrog home world worried.

Trierion Empire: These loathsome beasts are large humanoid lizards, a cross between a T-Rex and a human and standing almost seven feet tall, Trierions are by far the most notorious species in the galaxy. Once the overlords of many races, they  were conquered by the Nrog and the Mandru allies centuries ago and were only spared annihilation because they were used as cannon fodder in the Great Dionii War. Humans and all humanoids are a delicacy for them, indeed they eat the dead as well as the living. When capturing a world, they are highly militant, raping and pillaging the entire planet in their xenophobic way. Having destroyed the vast former human empire, Trierions keep the women as slaves, sexual objects, and playthings. A member of the "Free Alliance", many races have recently declared war upon them, and they have begun threatening less powerful nearby races.

Vahran Star Fellowship: A extreme stellar religious order of humanoids, the Vahran worship their God above all others, believing that He disappeared into a wormhole, they seek to join him in "Heaven". A tall race of red, thin humanoids closely resembling "humans", the Vahran have become very adaptable as their home world environment decayed. They are also sadly industrially unsophisticated and fairly chauvinistic in nature, and always seek 'purity'. They have recently declared war on the evil Trierions and have allied themselves with the vast and incredibly wealthy Junkion Union.

Vreed Plutocracy: A small hairless humanoid race(yes those guys!), the Vreed only joined the Federation by force, after fighting a five-month war with the Nrog. Seven powerful economic houses control and run Vreed space, which is very male oriented. Constant internal economic warfare has characterized Vreed history, and a high growth rate hasn’t helped the situation much. A race who is very radiation intolerant, the Vreed have been clamed by the Federation's presence. No formal border disputes, although the Vreed home world lies dangerously close to the Trierion home world.

Weft: A pre-industrial race located far from the Capital, the Weft are a shaggy humanoid race that stand nearly ten feet tall and are capable of phenomenal acts of strength. The appear to be highly religious but have little formal government. Their planetary system contains little and Federation broadcast beacons are in place, warning everyone away from their home world.

Whimed Federation: A race of tall(7'), skinny humanoid philosophers the Whimeds are also natural traders, being seen throughout the galaxy on one trade mission or another. Their have frail constitutions however and cannot withstand the pressures of ST gravity and atmosphere. Located near the hostile "Free Alliance", the Whimed have been approached by various races but have remained loyal to the Nrog Federation. An Associate Member at this time, the Whimeds are looking forward to full Membership within the newly contracted Federation Council.

Zen Kethi Imperium: The Zen Kethi are a relatively young, but fast growing, race within the Federation. Physically, the Zen Kethi are tall, lanky humanoids, with 2.3 meters being the average height. A ring of silver hair circles their heads, with a prominent bald spot at the top. Their height, along with their thin, prominent noses, have had the unfortunate side effect of giving other races that they are 'looking down their noses' at them. Additionally, other races can find Zen Kethi speech patterns annoying, as they often repeat clauses and phrases they consider important. A Full Member of the Federation, this race appears to be negotiating with an unknown nation near them.
